About the homes
What is an Adult Residential Care Home (ARCH)?
An ARCH is a residential setting where adults live and receive help with daily activities. A. Nishioka Family Care Home and M. Nishioka Family Care Home are licensed ARCHs in Hilo.
What does Expanded ARCH mean?
Both homes have Expanded ARCH licenses. The Hawaiʻi Department of Health explains that an Expanded ARCH may admit people who require a nursing home level of care. We discuss each person’s needs to determine whether a home is suitable. Read the State’s explanation.
How many residents can each home care for?
Each home is licensed for up to five residents.
Do you offer private rooms?
Yes. Both A. Nishioka Family Care Home and M. Nishioka Family Care Home offer private and semi-private rooms. Call to ask which room options are currently available.
Care and visits
Can you care for someone living with dementia or using a wheelchair?
We can discuss dementia and mobility support, including wheelchair needs. Please tell us about your loved one’s situation so we can assess whether a home is a good fit.
What help is available day to day?
Care may include personal care, toileting assistance, medication monitoring and administration, meals, nighttime checks, activities, housekeeping, and laundry. See the care and services page and ask which services apply at each home.
Are in-home physician visits available?
In-home physician visits are listed among our care services. Call to discuss how visits are arranged for a resident.
Can family members visit?
We offer flexible visiting hours. Call to discuss visiting arrangements for the home you’re considering.
